Electric car maker Tesla Motors has marked July 29 as the date for its Gigafactory Grand opening celebration. The official event will take place outside of Reno, Nevada on the night of July 29th. The company noted the date in the invitations sent out to Model S buyers who had won tickets to Grand opening by referring more than five other customers. It was confirmed by Tesla that a customer-oriented special event will be hold that night. More »

Gateway (Greenwich Automated Transport Environment) is offering the chance for people to take part in the UK’s first public driverless car trial. GATEway is an $11 million research project to see whether British people will take to driverless vehicles.

A bright red $50 000 Ferrari stolen 28 years ago was found by US customs officials and prevented from being exported to Poland.
The red 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi was stolen on July 19, 1987 from a Newport Beach car lot. The original owner is a man from Orange County, Calif. and now wishes to remain anonymous. He had expressed interest in buying back the car.
When three decades ago, the man discovered his car had gone missing, he reported the car stolen and was compensated by his insurance company. More »

Organisers say the experiment will revolutionize future road transport on Europe’s busy highways.
More than a dozen self-driving trucks made by six of Europe’s largest manufacturers- Daimler, IVECO, Scania DAF, MAN and Volvo- are taking part in the European Truck Platooning Challenge, organized by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment as one of the big events for its 2016 presidency of the European Union. Honda Motor Co. has recently announced the release of its entry-level vehicle Civic LX sedan with automated safety features and advanced-driver assistance system which makes some of the most sophisticated technology on the market accessible to significantly more customers. The vehicle costs only $20,440.

A lucky buyer has purchased the Queen’s Jaguar X-Type for £15,000 and doesn’t even know it.
The monarch’s Jaguar, that comes complete with parking sensors, heated seats and a dog grille, was sold for £15,000 after being offered online. The three-litre V6 Sovereign model had just 7,600 miles on the clock at the time of the sale despite being seven years old. A U.S.-registered cargo jet was impounded in Zimbabwe after blood was seen dripping from the plane and a dead body and cash were later discovered on board, authorities said.
It was reported that the Boeing MD11 trijet cargo plane, owned by Florida-based Western Global Airlines, that was traveling from Germany to South Africa “with millions of rands” on board. At today’s exchange rate, 1 million rand is worth approximately $62,500. More »
After a nearly 14-year break, Lincoln Continental, the car of presidents, is returning. The new Continental flagship, a full-size sedan, debuted last week at the 2016 North American International Auto Show.
For most of its 99-year history, the Lincoln Continental was the pinnacle of luxury, the car of kings and presidents. The Continental was born in 1938, when Henry Ford’s son Edsel commissioned designers to make a convertible he could drive during his spring vacation to Palm Beach.
