According to sources familiar with the plans, the second-largest U.S. automaker, Ford Motor Co is set to form a deal with Google’s parent firm, the search engine giant Alphabet Inc about forming a partnership to develop autonomous car technology.

The US internet giant has met with UK government officials five times in the last two years, according to some media reports.

Google is said to believe the UK could take a leading position in developing laws for the vehicles, which are currently being tested in California and that may become publicly available by 2020. The Californian tech giant reportedly sees the UK as a key market for its driverless cars. According to some documents, those face-to-face meetings have focused on bringing autonomous cars to the streets of the U.K. even though, it is unclear whether Google is planning to extend trials to the UK. Different modes of autonomous public transportation vehicles are beginning to emerge all over the world, but what makes “Next” different is that it combines personal transportation with public transportation and it can act as a train, bus, or personal vehicle. “Next” consists of modular, energy-efficient pods that can travel on their own, like a personal self-driving vehicle, or can connect while in motion.

When the pods connect, passengers can walk through them the same way we walk to different compartments on a train. “Next” is electric and has six seats. More »

A group of researchers found that the vulnerability lies in the UConnect system built into the dashboard computers of hundreds of thousands of Fiat Chrysler vehicles made since late 2013.

Two security experts, Chris Valasec and Charlie Miller, highlighted the vulnerability of the security system by attacking a Jeep Cherokee equipped with the UConnect. They discovered that attackers could remotedly locate cars by scanning for devices using the software and easily gain access via UConnect Internet-connected security system available on numerous Fiat Chrysler vehicles. 800px-TOSY_Arm_RobotAn automotive assembly line robot killed a worker at one of Volkswagen production plants in central Germany last week, the company’s spokesman Heiko Hillwig said in an official statement.

The 22-old man was grabbed by a robot and pressed up against a large metal plate which crushed his chest. The tragedy happened in Baunatal, which is near Kessel and about 60 miles north of Frankfurt. The man was part of a team that was setting up the stationary robot when, suddenly, the machine grabbed him. Volkswagen officials did not release the man’s name and declined to give any further details about the incident because of the ongoing investigation. More »
