More Drivers Are Trading in Electric Cars for SUVs

800px-Petrol_pump_mp3h0355In recent years, electric car manufacturers have been touted by celebrities and politicians as a way to help the environment and save money on gasoline. Generous tax credits were handed out to encourage people to buy alternative fuel vehicles.

A report from the auto-research group Edmund.com says that the number of car owners, trading in their high-efficiency vehicles for traditional petrol cars, have significantly increased in the first three month of 2015. Edmund claims that 22 percent of drivers that have traded in their hybrids and EVs in 2015, bought a new SUV. More »

Meet Yobot- the Robotic Concierge at a Hotel in New York

800px-Looming_robot_armYobot, a unique high-tech amenity of the new Yotel Hotel, is a robot that is designed to place guests’ luggage in a locker for them before or after checking in the hotel. The 669-room Yotel is located at Times Square West in Manhattan. The Yotel brand operates three other hotels in London and Amsterdam.

The robot is placed at the entrance of the hotel behind a secure glass wall where hotel guests can watch it in action. Guests use a touchscreen to enter the number and size of their bags. Te 20-foot tall robotic arm brings a box where the guest places their luggage and enters a pin number and last name. The container is weighed and stored in one of 117 lockers. Then the robot issues a receipt with bar code for the subsequent bag retrieval. More »

Flying Car Crashes During Test Flight

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe AeroMobil 3.0 prototype, piloted by its inventor, spectacularly crashed during a test flight in west Slovakia last week.

Stefan Klein, co-founder of tech company AeroMobil, flying car’s inventor and test pilot, was testing the latest experimental AeroMobil prototype in Nitra, Slovakia, when something went wrong at an altitude of approximately 900 feet. The aircraft appeared to be in trouble and went into a tailspin before it crashed into the ground.

The pilot activated the parachute system built into the car, which slowed the descent and saved Klein’s life. Onlookers said the 54-year-old inventor didn’t need any help to leave the scene. He was later taken to hospital for minor injuries. However, the aircraft wasn’t so lucky. It was badly damaged in the crash. More »

Frozen in Time: Five Pre-War Automobiles Found in Texas Barn

1929_CadillacFive perfectly preserved classic pre-war automobiles, stored for four decades in a Austin barn were discovored by a Texas car collector. Antonio Brunet is a chairman and founder of Motostalgia Auctions. He is now helping the classic’s owner take the cars to auction. The collection is valued at more than $700,000.

The collection includes a 1932 Cadillac 370B V-12 Victoria Convertible, 1933 Cadillac Model 370C V-12 Town Coupe, 1938 Cadillac Series 90 V-16 Fleetwood Limousine, 1923 Milburn Electric Model 27L, 1908 REO Model G Boattail Roadster/Sedan Tonneau. BMW Had Best March Sales Ever

Bloodhound- the Rocket Car That Aims to be the Fastest on Earth

800px-AFRC_jet_car_on_runway_at_WOWC_2008A futuristic British-built rocket car, dubbed Bloodhound, and a team of 34 engineers and scientists behind this supersonic car, will attempt to smash the land speed record.

The Bloodhound is designed to reach over 1,000 mph in 55 seconds. The attempt will take place on a specially cleared 12-mile stretch of dried-up lake-bed land in Hakskeen Pan in South Africa Kalahari desert in August where 18,500 tonnes of stones have been removed by 300 local workers for five years. The area will be fitted with a water pipeline and 4G phone network. More than 10,000 tourists are expected to watch the record breaking attempt. More »

Mercedes_S-Class_LED_Headlight_(W222)Mercedes unveiled the first official details about the new Maybach Pullman S600 limousine only a few days ago. The ultra-long-wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz will take the S-Class range to a whole new level of luxury.

 With an impressive length of 255.9 inches, the Pullman gains an extra 3.5 feet over the Mercedes- Benz S class and it’s also four inches taller. The wheelbase stretches 14.5 feet and the Pullman boasts a rear compartment resembling a “club lounge”, according to the producer. More »

800px-Apple_StoreApple has hundreds of employees secretly working on an all-electric automobile project, codenamed ‘Titan’, according to a report released Friday from the Wall Street Journal. The vehicle which is being created is said to resemble a minivan, the Journal is citing people familiar with the company’s plans.
